abandon- to give up; discontinue; withdraw from. I will abandon my sick child in a dumpster.
absorb-to suck up or drink in (a liquid); soak up. The sponge will absorb the water.
abuse-to use wrongly or improperly; misuse. The man was put in jail for child abuse.
accent-prominence of a syllable in terms of differential loudness, or of pitch, or length, or of a combination of these. the man from America had an annoying accent so i shot him in the head.
accident- an undesirable or unfortunate happening that occurs unintentionally and usually results in harm, injury, damage, or loss; casualty; mishap. My brother was in a horrible.
accompanied-to go along or in company with; join in action. I accompanied a friend on a walk.
accomplishment-something done admirably or creditably. Space exploration is a major accomplishment of science.
accurate-free from error or defect; precise; exact. I hope my science prac was very accurate.
acquaint-to bring into social contact; to introduce. She acquainted her roommate with my cousin.
acquire-to come into possession or ownership of. To acquire property.
acres-a common variable unit of land measure. The barn house came with 20 acres.
activities-the state or quality of being active. There was not much activity in the stock market today.
acute-extremely great or serious; crucial. An acute shortage of oil.
adapt-to make suitable to requirements or conditions; adjust or modify fittingly. They adapted themselves to the change quickly.
adaptation-the state of being adapted; adjustment. Quick adaptation is vital in the wild.
adequate-as much or as good as necessary for some requirement or purpose; fully sufficient. This car is adequate to our needs.
adjustment-the state of being adjusted; orderly relation of parts or elements. An adjustment was made to the television.
administer-to make application of; give. To administer medicine.
admiration-an object of wonder, pleasure, or approval: The dancer was the admiration of everyone.
admit- to give right or means of entrance to. This ticket admits two people.
